It's 100% possible that you're actually hurting your bottom line by saying YES to every single opportunity that comes your way. That's right. Your short term strategy of making all the money is actually hurting your long-term growth potential.
When you simply say yes to whatever comes your way, you run the risk of taking on the wrong clients, doing work that is only tangentially related to the focus of your business, and spending all of your time feeling like you're spinning your wheels.
Those choices wreak of desperation, lack, and fear.
And that shit is just plain bad for business.
It also prevents the right opportunities from coming your way.
If you continue to find yourself in this predicament, it's time to take a look at your grand vision and goals for your business. 10 years from now, what do you want to be known for? What kind of legacy do you want to leave? How do you want people to talk about the work you do?
When you connect to the bigger picture, it's a heck of a lot easier to say no for all the right reasons.
So, lick your lips and swing your hips girl, 'cause all you gotta say is ... NO.
DO IT NOW:
Embrace your inner Meghan Trainor and start saying nah to the ah to the no, no, no to the things that aren't aligned with what you do, who you serve, and where you want your business to go.
PS—Here's a great article from Zen Habits about saying no so you can say yes to the things that you REALLY want. We think is pretty spot on.
