Go where the magic happens: Step outside of your comfort zone.

It happens to the best of us. We get comfortable. Used to the day-to-day routine of our lives. Feeling like we're in a bubble of safety and warmth. And we're happy here for a while. Some of us longer than others.

And then one day, BOOM.

Unhappiness hits. Or a feeling of boredom sinks in and we wish for a life filled with more excitement and oomph than we currently have. And we secretly wonder how we let this happen. How did things go from awesome to awful in seconds flat?

Thoughts swirl like...I used to be fun. I used to have fun.

But then we get paralyzed in the "I don't know how to fix it" stage. And the truth is, it's fairly simple to get unstuck. It's just not an easy thing to do.

This week's missive (or challenge, or call to action—whatever you want to call it): Do something outside of your comfort zone.

It could be:

  • sending an email to an admired mentor in your field
  • asking a total stranger to coffee
  • signing up for a 5K (or marathon, if you're feeling bold)
  • trying a new recipe
  • wearing a bright color instead of the monotone vibe you've been rocking
  • going to a networking event where you don't know a soul
  • wearing red lipstick

Whatever it is, find something that makes you feel a bit uncomfortable, anxious or uneasy. And then go do it!
