Spotlight: Ronni Weiss

You may recognize Ronni Weiss — today's featured entrepreneur — from our March Networking Happy Hour at the Pittsburgh Winery. Ronni was kind enough to provide the musical entertainment for our evening.

We hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as we did.

And we also hope that her journey into entrepreneurship and music at the age of 61 is an inspiration as well. Ronni proves that it's never to late to follow your dreams!

Introduce yourself as if you were speaking from the cockpit.
Good afternoon. This is your captain, Ronni Weiss speaking. Fasten your seat belts, sit back and enjoy the ride.

When did you earn your wings?
I have always loved sing and play music and enjoyed them as hobbies for many years. Then in July 2011 I attended a week long Blues music program. There were different classes to take and I picked  Blues Vocal Performance and Blues Piano. There was music day and night- classes in the day, performances and jams at night and not a lot of sleep. A week of total immersion. When I came back I was changed and open to the part of myself that had always been there but was now clearly my direction.

If you could name a nail polish color after yourself of your business, what would it be?
I don't usually wear nail polish but I thought Clear Iridescent sounded nice.

Not all flights are smooth. Tell us about how you handle turbulence in your business and life.
Turbulence helps make us stronger I guess but it's hard to keep in perspective sometimes. It helps me to pay attention to the small successes all along the way, andto be grateful for the opportunities that I do have.

Who is the wind beneath your wings?
My late husband Ed who encouraged me always. My dear friend and music mentor Jay who supported me. My daughter and grandson—my biggest fans. My friends.

What’s your advice to other women as they navigate the business world?
I'm 63 years old now and did not realize realize the extent of my passion for music until the age of 61. So, no matter how old you may be, it's never too late to follow your heart and live your dreams.
