We're willing to bet that there is something on your to-do list that has been there longer than all the others. Something that you've been avoiding because you think it's going to take a long time to complete. Or that it involves math. Or because you'll actually have to pick up the phone and talk to someone.
We feel you.
We really do.
But we also know that at this point in the game, the story you're telling yourself about why it's scary, hard, too time consuming (ad nauseam) ... is way worse than the actual task at hand.
So you're just going to do it, okay.
Rip the damn band-aid off, take action, and celebrate.
And then come back and email us what you did. Because we want to celebrate with you.
To recap, here's how to do that thing you've been avoiding:
- Identify the item on your to-do list that's been there so long that you've contemplated deleting it just so you don't have to start at it any longer.
- Shut down all browser tabs. Close out all social media. Turn your notifications off your phone. Hell, put your phone in the next room (unless you actually have to use it to make a phone call). And remove any other potential distractions from your immediate vicinity.
- Do the damn thing.
- Celebrate like crazy. You took action and owned your fears. That deserves a hearty celebration.
- Move on to the next item on your list. You don't want to let that momentum (and distraction-free zone) go to waste now do you?!
